Villa 'Il Fienile' is a wonderfully recently renovated old barn, immersed in the Tuscan countryside with stunning views over the hills and the Etruscan town of Volterra. The geographical location is particularly interesting because of its proximity to the main cities of art. The property is located 20 mins from San Giminiano, about an hour from Siena and Florence, and 40 minutes from the sea. Pisa Airport is 45 mins away.
The space
The villa consists of 4 bedrooms (one in its independent annex), 2 bathrooms, several terraces with furniture, a barbecue area to dream of, a breathtaking view of Volterra and its typical Tuscan hills.
The garden is flowered all year round. The house is very tastefully decorated. Very high quality materials throughout.
The private swimming pool is at your entire disposal and has a travertine sidewalk and a solar shower (dimensions 4.5x9 m)
The villa is ideal for a relaxing holiday, for visiting the main cities of art and for trips to the sea and is easily accessible via a 300-meter gravel path.

Summary: My family and I had an incredible time at Villa Il Fienile Podere, which is located about 10-15 minutes by car from Volterra. The kitchen is well stocked and the Wifi worked great. The upstairs has 3 bedrooms, two with king beds and one with 3 twin beds which is great for kids. A/C in 2 of the 3 bedrooms, but A/C wasn't really necessary in mid June as the weather was nice and breezy. There's also a detached bedroom adjacent to the main house w/ A/C, king bed, and a full bathroom (no stairs). The pool is huge and there are shallow/deep ends, so it was great for my kids. The owner was very responsive, so all our needs were met. The location is perfect if you're trying to use it as a base to explore Tuscany by car. We were able to get to Sienna, Florence, Pisa, Venice, San Gimignano, Volterra (twice) and also to the local beach town of Cecina. All were within about an hour drive max (except Venice of course). A few caveats: There are spiral steel stairs to get from the first to the second levels in the main house, not a problem for us or most people but could be a challenge for the physically challenged or very little ones. Also have patience with the washer, it can take up to 2 hours to finish but it does work (You're in Italy, so not everything is like the US). Also, driving in Italy is an experience, so get used to being passed by kind but impatient Italian drivers. I highly recommend staying here to any families who are willing to explore Tuscany on their own.
